When community partners and business partners come together to support schools, beautiful things can grow. With help from sponsors, Fremont Elementary & Fremont Open Plan have created several gardens on campus. Pictured, is their edible garden. Students learn the science behind growth, nutrition, and soil, as well as many other important lessons that school gardens provide. Soon they will harvest delicious vegetables and create colorful salads. What could be better than businesses & community partners planting the seeds to help grow a healthy future? 🥗#partnersineducation#SPIE
"Dreams are extremely important. You can't do it unless you imagine it." - George Lucas Roosevelt Junior High recently had their annual Career Day. Several of our business partners spent the afternoon discussing what career pathways are available once students graduate. From barbering to having a career as a musician to joining the Police Department, Roosevelt students took home plenty of ideas and future plans to contemplate. Thank you to the businesses that participated at Roosevelt Junior High's Career Day. If you are a business or organization that would like to be added to our Career Day presenters list, please send us a message or email ruhi.spie@gmail.com. #SPIE#partnersineducation
"Glorious Modesto is a catalyst of creative initiatives that engender civic pride and connected community in our city." Harriette Kirschen Elementary school students who have perfect attendance and most improved attendance earn ROAR tickets where they can "shop" at the school store. In addition, students have the opportunity to spin the bonus wheel and win fun prizes donated by business partners such as Glorious Modesto's trucker caps. Kirschen students can celebrate their love for Modesto & school! If you are a business that would like to donate incentives to local schools, send us a message. #partnersineducation#SPIE#gloriousmodesto
Attendance matters. These local businesses are supporting schools and incentivizing students and their families to attend everyday. Thank you to Chuck E. Cheese & Modesto On Ice Presented by Modesto Subaru for generously donating family passes to be raffled off to students who have improved their attendance. What a wonderful gift for families to spend more time together! #partnersineducation#SPIE
Tonight Great Valley Academy in partnership with Haven Women's Center of Stanislaus held an educational discussion for parents about how to safely educate and protect students from human trafficking. Thank you to Enaya Rosas from Haven Women's Center for leading the discussion and to Dunkin' Donuts Modesto, CA for providing refreshments. "Human trafficking is a problem that hides in plain sight-in our neighborhoods, schools, and online. Armed with the facts, parents and guardians can have a powerful influence to help recognize and prevent this dangerous crime that is jeopardizing the safety of youth and their peers." #partnersineducation#SPIE
“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” 🎵 Thank you to Modesto Symphony Orchestra for donating tickets to Sonoma Elementary School orchestra students. Creating enrichment opportunities for students outside of school is a valuable way to inspire these young musicians. Be sure to check out the recent article in the The The Modesto Bee highlighting a wonderful evening under the stars as MYSO musicians serenade the audience. #partnersineducation#SPIE
We're excited to support Tuolumne Elementary School on a new project, join us! Principal Lomeli is collecting rain gear for students to wear on their walk to school on rainy days. The goal is to get rainboots for each student in Kindergarten-3rd grade, raincoats for older students and umbrellas for everyone. Walking to school is challenging when there are sidewalks missing, and puddles are no fun to jump in when you show up to school drenched and cold. Help us support this project by partnering with Tuolumne Elementary School with donations of boots, coats and umbrellas. We would like to thank our first business partner the Latino Community Roundtable of Stanislaus County! To become a partner email ruhi.spie@gmail.com or send us a message. Let's help the Tuolumne Tigers show up to school warm, dry and ready for learning! #partnersineducation#SPIE
Great Valley Academy hosted some of our brightest stars in Stanislaus County at their Community Speaker Series. These community leaders spoke about kindness, grit and compassion. They even had a walking handstand contest! Thank you to all the speakers who took time out of their day to share their experiences with Great Valley Academy students. #partnersineducation#SPIE
Evelyn Hanshaw Middle School Life Skills’ students took a grand tour of Downtown Bauer’s 209. Hanshaw Life Skills’ students expressed interest in learning what it takes to have a career in the restaurant business. Our very knowledgeable business partner and Restauranteur Tye Bauer, owner of Bauer's 66 1/2 & Bauhaus, opened his doors to his latest endeavor: Downtown Gastropub by Bauer's. Chef Tye and his staff introduced students to terms of different cuts of meats, spices and searing and chopping skills. Students then were treated to lunch, enjoying a meal together. This is hands-on-learning and business partnership at its best. We look forward to following the journey of these hardworking students to see what culinary adventures they embark on after being inspired by Tye Bauer and his staff. Be sure to frequent these wonderful businesses that give back to our community and invest their time and talent into our local students. #partnersineducation#SPIE#downtownbauers209#hanshawmiddleschool
These rainy days are reminding us of our friends at Tuolumne Elementary School. They are still taking contributions for the Rain Boot Project. Their goal to give every younger student rain boots and all students rain jackets and umbrellas to protect them on their walks to school. We would like to thank Jane Manley for our latest community contribution! Let’s keep the students at Tuolumne dry and ready for learning. If you would like to contribute send us a message or email ruhi.spie@gmail.com
